Around the World Night
Discover the world and connect at the same time
TWEENS (11 - 14 YEARS)
6/28/20262 min read

Choose a country. Cook something from their cuisine. Learn ten words in their language. Watch a video about their wildlife. Listen to their music. And stamp a homemade passport to mark the journey.
Around the World Night is one of the most expansive, curious, joyful activities in this collection - and here's a thought that still amazes me: one night per country means 195 future adventures. The world is enormous and endlessly fascinating, and this activity opens the door to all of it.
Why This Works
Tweens who develop curiosity about the wider world grow into adults with empathy, perspective and open minds. Around the World Night makes geography, language, culture and food tangible and exciting rather than abstract and distant. And the passport stamping tradition turns it into an ongoing family adventure rather than a one-off activity.
Activity Details
Age Group: Tweens 11–14
Time: 2–3 hours

What You Need
A chosen country (spin a globe or draw from a hat!)
Ingredients for a simple dish from that country
Homemade passport (folded card with a photo inside)
A stamp or sticker for the passport
YouTube or streaming service for wildlife/culture videos
A playlist of music from the chosen country
Steps
Choose your country together - spin a globe, use a random country generator or draw from a hat.
Research together: find one recipe, ten words in the language and something fascinating about the country's wildlife or culture.
Cook the recipe together, talking about the food traditions as you go.
While the food cooks or rests, learn your ten words - greetings, numbers, colours.
Watch a short video about the country's animals, landscape or people.
Listen to music from the country during dinner.
Stamp the homemade passport and mark the country on a world map.
