Homemade Irish Cream

Silky, Boozy and Made in Ten Minutes

There's something very grown-up about handing someone a bottle of homemade Irish cream. It tastes like a posh liqueur, but it's really just cream, condensed milk, whiskey, a little chocolate and coffee, whizzed in a blender. No cooking, no raw egg and no fancy equipment.

There is one catch, and it's an important one: because it's made with fresh cream, it doesn't keep like shop-bought liqueur. It keeps for about two weeks in the fridge, so this is a gift to make close to Christmas, not in October. It's for adults only, and there's an easy non-alcoholic version for everyone else.

Suits a summer or a winter Christmas: over ice on a hot afternoon or stirred into hot coffee on a cold night.
