Homemade Pizza from Scratch
Pizza will never be the same
TWEENS (11 - 14 YEARS)

Pizza night will never be the same once you've made it from scratch together. There's something deeply satisfying about watching a tween knead dough with their own hands, choose their own toppings and pull a golden, bubbling pizza out of the oven knowing they made every single part of it.
This is one of those activities that starts in the kitchen and ends at the dinner table with the whole family gathered around - and that's exactly the kind of memory we're here to make.
Why This Works
Tweens love ownership - and pizza from scratch gives them exactly that. They can customise every element, practice real cooking skills like dough making and sauce preparation, and feel genuinely proud of the result. It's also a brilliant way to spend a Friday night together without screens.
Activity Details
Age Group: Tweens 11–14
Time: 90 minutes (including dough resting time)
Difficulty: Medium
Serves: 4
What You Need
2 cups plain flour
1 sachet instant yeast
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
¾ cup warm water
2 tbsp olive oil
Passata or tomato paste for the base
Toppings of choice: cheese, ham, mushrooms, olives, capsicum, fresh basil
Steps
Mix flour, yeast, sugar and salt in a large bowl. Add warm water and olive oil and mix until a dough forms.
Turn onto a floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place in an oiled bowl, cover with a clean tea towel and rest for 30–45 minutes until doubled in size.
Preheat oven to 220°C. Punch down the dough and roll out to your desired thickness on a floured surface.
Transfer to a lined baking tray. Spread the base with passata and add toppings.
Bake for 15–18 minutes until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbling.
Slice and serve immediately.
Kim's Tips 💕
Let your tween do the kneading - it's a great stress reliever and makes a real difference to the dough!
Try a white pizza base with olive oil, garlic and fresh herbs for something a little different
Make individual mini pizzas so everyone gets their own creation
